Day 28---Every HO HO HO needs some Red Heels!!

Day 28-- Red leather strappy heels by Franco Sarto. Every woman should own some red heels!!

New product day!! This one I am really excited about. It's called Hemming My Way.
Hemming My Way Snap Hem 1 ea
What are they and why am I staring at some strange lady's butt you must be asking. They are snap together strips that convert your pant lengths to adjust to different shoes. I LOVE IT!! They are not permanent and can be taken off and used on other pants/jeans without damage to them. No more hemming! This is so exciting. I have a closet full of 20 pairs of jeans in varying lengths. I am ordering these off Amazon tomorrow and will let you know how they work.

Day 27---Only 72 to go....I hope I counted correctly....

Day 27--Nude sandals by Dollhouse. I had to take advantage of no rain today because it's on it's way :( You should feel privileged that I let you see my crazy toes!!

I'm starting to lose track of what shoes I've worn and what I haven't. I think I need to come up with a new system to organize them. I try to wear the shoe of the day for most of the day unless I have something come up that warrants me changing them. If left up to me I would change my shoes 3 or 4 times a day (and I often have). I walked to the kids' school today to pick them up and was asked by at least 4 people if the Crocs I was wearing were "the shoe of the day". I hated to admit that no I had to get some Christmas lights out on the roof of the house and sandals like these were not the best idea in safety wear. The Crocs will make their way into the 99 sometime though, just not today. It's funny though. I have some shoes that I'm really excited to share and some I'm anxious to get out of the way. I know the tennis shoes are not going to be a big hit, but then again maybe no one will love some of my favorites like I do. All tastes are different and that's okay. Only 72 to go...Oh my goodness...What have I done???

Day 26---Like Nancy Reagan taught me...Just say no!

Day 26---2 for 1 Day!! Started off the day with Brown Snakeskin heels by Preview International. Had to go straight from Church to BB tournaments so I changed into tan Snakeskin ballet flats by Jessica Simpson...Yes, I am that good!...LOL!!!

Something made stopped me in my tracks while walking through Fred Meyer's the other day. It was a rather large display at the end of a heavily trafficked isle. I usually walk right by those things unless they have something to do with wine or chocolate but this display made me stop and gawk. I was actually tempted to get my camera out of my purse and take a picture of this horrific find. I couldn't believe there was a market out there for this product. I guess I understand the desire for it....like I understand the desire for elastic waist pants at a Vegas Buffet. They were disposable ballet flats that you can keep rolled up in your purse and use, I surmise, when your heels start hurting. They are called Fast Flats and are by Dr. Scholl's. I know a lot of us ladies are going to be wearing height-defying heels to holiday parties in the next few weeks, but I beg you please don't do it!!! I promise, the pain of uncomfortable shoes is short lived, but the shame of wearing disposable shoes lasts a lifetime.

Day 24---Are we almost there yet???

Day 24---Sorry to disappoint! I had to take advantage of the sun today and bring out some sandals. Black leather flip flops by Roxy with silver beads. I used and abused these sandals all Summer. It was so nice to get to wear my old friends again today!! Yeah for sun!!!

I'm afraid to admit it, but I am way behind this year. Christmas has snuck up on me like crazy! I'm usually at least a little bit more organized than I am this year. With four kids going in different directions with sports and music lessons, a busy husband that also coaches multiple sports, keeping a house somewhat clean and my own social engagements and personal endeavours some things have seem to fallen through the cracks. I am under no illusion of being perfect, nor have I ever been. But I am surprised by how my expectations have shifted the busier I get. The condition of my house will tell you how crazy life is right now. I mean I never thought that my floors needed to be so clean that you could eat off of them, but now I'm not even concerned if they look like they've been licked-clean by the dog!...Okay, that might be going a bit too far...but you get my point. I'm busy!! You read the articles and the psychologists on Oprah who tell us we're too busy, that we need to slow down and start saying no. How do you tell your kids that they can't play the sports they love? Or tell one kid yes and another "No, we're too busy." I know....I signed up for this when I had 4 kids. It's all good things though. So if I don't call you when I say I'm going to, or I forget to send you a Birthday card it's not because I've forgotten about YOU. It's because I've forgotten about ME. I explained to John today when we went out to lunch and I had to forgo getting what I wanted to order and share what Tate wanted, that right now my life is about my family, it's not about me. I'll have time for me...In about 15 years...

Day 23---Let's Boot Up!

Day 23---Black boots by Steve Madden. As you can guess, these boots are not made for walk'in. You will not see me running a marathon in these! But who said all shoes have to be comfortable?

I had someone say to me yesterday that they don't "get" boots, as in they don't understand how to wear them. I guess I understand that. They can be a bit tricky. Boots come in all different heel sizes and shapes. They make different colors and lengths. It's important to know what pants or skirts to wear with what. For example, these boots are shorter so you definitely wouldn't want to wear them with a skirt. They need to be covered with a pant leg. Another thing is pant length. When you have a high heel like this you need some really long pants/slacks. You want to barely see the heels when standing upright (I pulled my pant leg up to show the heel in the picture). So it's important that you have the right length of pants to go with whatever shoes you are wearing. The same pair of pants may not work for two different pair of shoes depending on how tall the heel of the shoe is. Tall boots can be worn with pants or skirts. There are exceptions of course. You can wear tall boots with capris and sometimes depending on the short boot you can wear them with a skirt. It's all about creativity. I'm having fun wearing tall boots with skirts and knee highs right now. I'm pretty sure I am too old for it, but I'm going to do it until someone shames me into stopping! The best advice I can give for figuring out how to wear different boots/shoes, or putting whole outfits together in general, is to look around you and copy what you like! There is no shame in that. You might just need some inspiration. Once you get used to putting a certain look together the easier it is for your mind to conceive it. It just might take some practice. So step out of your comfort zone (pun intended) and go for it!

Day 22--If the shoe fits the pants better too!

Day 22---Olive Green Patent Leather flats by Medici. They are not my favorite shoes but they are my favorite color, so there you go!

There are two things that women as a whole are self-conscious about...their weight, and their age (and if they are anything like me you might want to add hair-color in there too). Now I know I'm generalizing, but I guarantee you if you questioned a group of women about those two things you would get some "ughs!" and some eye rolls, maybe some looks of resignation. It's unfair! We as women are not allowed to age gracefully, whereas men become distinguished? Who came up with these rules? It certainly wasn't the women. John is 7 years older than me but he didn't have a fit when he got his first gray hair about 10 years ago. I got my first little wrinkle this year and you would have thought my whole life ended!....You've heard the comments to newlywed husbands that have gained the Newlywed 10'..."Oh...He must be happy!" But when a woman gains some inches to pinch "Wow...can you believe how she's let herself go!" These are huge double standards. Society places this pressure on us, media, our parents, spouses and women most of the time are the biggest judges of each other. As many of my close friends know I've worked hard over the last 3 years to shed all the baby weight that seemed to accumulate over the years. One of the biggest reasons I wanted to lose the weight was so that I could fit into the clothes that I like. I'm still not where I want to be. But I've been proud of what I've accomplished, even while going through some pretty challenging physical difficulties. Through all of this I've had to visit different doctors and try different medications. I had to see a new doctor a couple of weeks ago and he asked me what medications I was on. I listed the two that had been prescribed for me a few weeks prior for migraines. His next statement made me go HUH?  "You would have sued me if I put you on those."... Apparently one of the pills causes rapid weight gain and the other rebound headaches! He asked if I had put on any weight recently....and duh...I thought I had just gained 10 pounds overnight! I would like to think I'm not vain, but as you can probably guess, I happily switched medications that same day. I know I've said that I like shoes because they always fit. But I'd like my pants to fit also...
